Picasso is famous for many things in the art world, not the least of which for his development of cubism. Tuolumne County Arts (TCA) is taking the famous painter’s many styles and adding a touch of modern-day flair with its 2nd Annual Why Not? Picasso-Inspired Small Works Art Show and Sale.

“Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not.” –Pablo Picasso

This year, TCA chose Picasso as inspiration because of his prolific works in various media. In addition to the theme, the event featured an additional Plant & Animals challenge.

Incoming entries have been unique and imaginative, consisting of sculpture from found objects, paintings, collage, and objects containing the color palettes for which Picasso was famous. (Blues from his Blue period, and pinks and oranges from his Rose period.) With creativity at the forefront, you just might see some great parodies of some recognizable works!

The art is available to view– and available for your winning bid!– in person at the Sonora Inn on Saturday, November 14, 12:00-8:00 pm. TCA will comply with all safe practices of social distancing.

If you can’t make it in person, the art is available to view online here. You can place bids by contacting TCA by phone at 209-694-6147 or email at info@tuolumnecountyarts.org

All bids are anonymous. The starting price will be made available so that you can put your very best bid price into the box.

Winners will be notified Sunday, November 15, by noon. Appointment arrangements will be made for a no-touch cash out and pick up time.

All monies raised go towards programs of Tuolumne County Arts.

*If you purchased tickets to this event, you will be refunded. Donated ticket prices are welcomed. While there was no party this year due to the pandemic, TCA looks forward to 2021 and the events and gatherings at the new location downtown.
